KOLORIANG, Feb 19: A meeting of district level bankers’ committee and the Agriculture Department was convened by the Kurung Kumey deputy commissioner here on Wednesday, to brief stakeholders about the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) saturation drive and the schedule for camps to be organised at the bank branches for the purpose.
The drive is being held to facilitate universal access to concessional institutional credit for all PM-KISAN beneficiaries with KCC in a mission mode with a view to ensure coverage of maximum number of such farmers during these 15 days’ special drive starting from 10 February.
Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (DAC&FW), GoI has launched the PM-KISAN, an income support scheme for all land holder farmer families in the country. Under this scheme, vulnerable landholding farmer families, having cultivable land up to 2 hectares, will be provided direct income support at the rate of Rs 6,000 per year.
During the meeting, bank branches of various banks were asked to prepare a list of all PM-KISAN beneficiaries who do not have KCC and share it with government functionaries, line departments, gaon burahs, Bank Sakhis, who will go in the field to motivate such farmers for coming to the bank branch and filling up the form for issue of KCC.
