ITANAGAR, Feb 27: The All Arunachal Tourism Student’s Union has requested the chief secretary to direct the state government not to discontinue the non-engineering wing of the tourism department.
In a representation it submitted to the CS last Friday, the union expressed concern over the government’s recent decision to discontinue the engineering wings of non-engineering departments like education, tourism, etc, and shift them to technical departments.
“Due to nonexistence of engineering wings and lack of technical knowledge, development activities of tourism department may hamper. The engineer wings are very much important and main part of the said non-technical departments. Whatever development activities or construction work has been done by the engineer wings were completed within stipulated time. If engineer wings will be discontinued and shifted, then it will create problems as it will lead to hectic schedules for the technical department,” it claimed.
