PASIGHAT, Mar 13: State Election Commissioner (SEC) Hage Kojeen reviewed the preparedness and issues related to conducting the upcoming simultaneous panchayati raj (PR) and municipal elections, here in East Siang district on Friday.
Among others, East Siang DC Kinny Singh, SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the ADCs of Pasighat, Mebo, Ruksin and Nari, and officials of the Pasighat Municipal Council attended the meeting.
The SEC directed the officers to “gear up men and machineries for smooth conduct of the upcoming elections in the district,” and to ensure that the model code of conduct is strictly implemented.
Kojeen also stressed on “preventing illegal movement of cash, liquor, arms etc,” and informed that while EVMs will be used for the municipal election, the PR elections would be conducted through ballot boxes.
The DC briefed the SEC on the availability of manpower, shortage of vehicles, fund management, pending bills, and other issues, while the SP presented the report on security arrangements for the elections. (DIPRO)
