MECHUKA, Mar 30: Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona on Monday convened a meeting here with the DC, the SP, the DMO and other stakeholders to take stock of Shi-Yomi district’s preparedness against Covid-19.
Sona, who represents the district, had rushed to the district on Sunday morning amid reports of food scarcity in Monigong and Pidi circles.
He said the district administration, the police and the health department are doing their best with all the available resources.
“I have suggested to them that there should be no delay or negligence due to financial crunch as funding is not a problem as of now,” Sona said.
He assured the district administration of all possible help, and asked the DC to approach him for any help.
The speaker expressed concern over the reported instances of members of the public not being supportive of the administration in some parts of the district.
“The public need to cooperate with the administration, the police and the health workers,” said Sona. “Whatever they are doing is for everyone’s safety.”
He appealed to the people of the district to follow the government’s advisories, “as the only key to preventing Covid-19 is awareness, social distancing and personal hygiene.”
