BOLENG, Apr 4: Around 300 labourers, mostly from unorganized sectors, in Siang district are being taken care of by the administration by way of providing food, temporary shelter and medical help as per the norms set by the government, said Siang DC Rajeev Takuk.
Takuk, accompanied by DDMO Karik Mize, and Boleng CHC SMO, Dr Kaling Tamuk, on Friday visited the GHSS here, where 91 stranded migrant labourers have been given temporary shelter.
These labourers have come here from remote areas of the district due to shortage of ration and other essential commodities, the DC said.
“The labourers who are staying outside the relief camp are provided with Rs 60 per day per person,” Takuk said. There are around 118 labourers who are currently staying outside the relief camp.
The medical team is also conducting general health check-up of the stranded labourers from time to time.
The DC urged all the contractors and employers to look after their labourers, and said strict action will otherwise be initiated against them.
