YUPIA, Apr 5: Disaster Management (DM) Director Abu Tayeng along with Papum Pare DC Pige Ligu, SP Jimmy Chiram and DDMO (in-charge) TM Tara on Sunday visited the two relief camps here to take stock of the overall arrangements at the camps.
The relief camps, set up by the district administration, are at the urban development (UD) shopping complex and the government primary school here. As of Sunday, 63 stranded migrant labourers were sheltered at the camps – 42 in the UD shopping complex, and 21 in the other one.
The administration and the line departments are working round the clock to ensure provision of better food, basic amenities, healthcare facilities, security, etc, to the people housed in the camps.
Meanwhile, coordination officer for the coordination centre, Dr Gomi Basar, and coordination officer for contact tracing and flying squad, Dr Kabak Tamar, visited the quarantine facility, the relief camps, the residential area for on-duty doctors and staff, and the Covid-19 control room here on Sunday.
DMO, Dr Subu Tasso Kampu, briefed the team on the overall preparations.
Dr Basar informed that “the quarantine centre in Yupia will be the second quarantine centre for Papum Pare and Itanagar capital complex, which is likely to be made functional very soon.”
He outlined the need for 24×7 security at the quarantine facility, besides provision of food and basic amenities for the quarantined persons, the doctors, the staff and the supporting staff, and advised the DMO to discuss the details with her capital complex counterpart.
The doctors also interacted with migrant labourers and enquired about their travel history and health problems. (DIPRO)
