MIAO, Apr 5: Local MLA and UD Minister Kamlung Mossang appealed to the business community here in Changlang district to refrain from taking undue advantage of the situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic to earn profits.
Mossang made this appeal amid reports of some unscrupulous shopkeepers here selling essential commodities at exorbitant rates.
The administration, however, regulated the prices and instructed the shopkeepers to strictly adhere to the fixed rates.
The entire Miao administrative subdivision has been under complete lockdown since 24 March and social distancing is being very strictly maintained.
Apart from extending financial support to meet the needs of the frontline workers, Mossang has been overseeing the measures being taken against Covid-19.
Administrative officers, the police and doctors are regularly visiting those who have been quarantined in the isolation wards, and those placed under home quarantine.
“All of them are found to be healthy and safe,” Miao CHC MO, Dr HS Jongsam, said.
Disinfection of market areas in upper and lower Miao, Namphai, Kharsang, Miao Singpho village, Civil Power Colony, petrol pumps and banks are being carried out from Saturday by a team under the supervision of engineer Minom Pertin.
The sanitization process will continue till all places are disinfected.
Meanwhile, EAC Apollo James Lungphi, SDPO Tasi Darang, Dr Jongsam and SI J Aran along with a medical staff and police personnel on Sunday visited all six Singpho villages on the right bank of the Noa Dehing river, under Lewang sub-centre.
The team interacted with the GBs and the public and thoroughly educated them on Covid-19. The villagers were advised to observe the lockdown till 14 April and maintain social distancing.
