ITANAGAR, Apr 10: The state cabinet on Friday approved an ordinance reducing the salaries of the chief minister, the deputy chief minister, the speaker, the deputy speaker, the council of ministers, and all MLAs by 30 percent for a year.
The reduction in salaries will be effective from 1 April, 2020 to 31 March, 2021. The fund will go to the state exchequer, and will be used in the fight against Covid-19.
The cabinet also reviewed the state’s preparedness to contain the spread of the coronavirus, and the efforts required to strengthen the infrastructure to deal with the situation.
It took stock of the existing and required medical equipment, including VTMs, rapid testing kits, PPE, etc, for healthcare and other frontline workers.
The cabinet also discussed developing a comprehensive strategy, which it said will include containment, “along with balancing the interest of the people in Arunachal and the students and workers stranded outside due to the nationwide lockdown.” (CM’s PR Cell)
