ZIRO, Apr 17: Lower Subansiri DC Chukhu Takar inaugurated two sample collection kiosks at Gyati Takka General Hospital (GTGH) here on Friday.
While one of the kiosks is for collecting throat swab samples for RT-PCR, the other one is for collecting blood samples for rapid antibody test.
The kiosks, sponsored by the Apatani Women Association, Ziro (AWAZ) and NGO NgunuZiro, will not only aid in dealing with any eventuality of Covid-19 occurring in the district but also ensure the safety of the frontline workers and reduce the need for personal protection equipment.
Laboratory tests on the samples collected at the kiosks will be done at the ICMR in Dibrugarh (Assam).
Besides doctors, members of the AWAZ and NgunuZiro were present at the inauguration.
The DC later held a meeting at the hospital to take stock of the District Health Society’s (DHS) preparedness against Covid-19.
DMO, Dr Tage Kanno, apprised the DC of the activities initiated by the DHS. He informed that places frequented by the public are regularly disinfected, and that house quarantine maps of all the villages have been prepared.
“Contact tracing of new entrants into the district by all the quarantine supervisors and monitoring of house-quarantined people are done on a daily basis,” Dr Kanno said.
The DHS has also set up a tele-OPD number, 98628 86893, to cater to regular OPD cases, the DMO said. (DIPRO)
