RGUSU seeks rent waiver from landlords

RONO HILLS, Apr 25: The Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union (RGUSU) has appealed to the landlords in and around the university area here to waive off a month’s rent on humanitarian grounds.
Noting how the Covid-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented impact on the lives of citizens across the nation, irrespective of their professions, the union requested the landlords of areas encompassing Doimukh, Nirjuli, Rono Hills, Taring, Amba, Emchi and the twin capital towns to waive off a month’s rent from tenants, especially students.
“Since students have no means of earning, they are the adverse sufferers in the teeth of this virulent pandemic,” the RGUSU said.
Highlighting that many have shown their love and sympathy towards fellow humans and towards the needy by providing rice, vegetables and other essential items, the union said it hopes that the landlords would consider waving off a month’s rent, especially from the students residing in the capital region.
