DAPORIJO, May 5: Beneficiaries under the rural job scheme of the MGNREGA of Giba circle have lodged a complaint with the Upper Subansiri deputy commissioner against the office of the Giba BDO for not releasing their wages.
They alleged that the officer(s) dealing with the matter is/are not performing duty effectively due to which fund is not being released for payment of their wage.
“They have not updated the documents required for the release of the fund to the higher authority,” the beneficiaries said, and demanded
replacement of the technical assistant at the BDO office with a new official.
They also threatened to launch a democratic movement, if the demand is not met.
Meanwhile, a villager informed that “many genuine people have been deprived from the employment guarantee scheme, whereas some government employees are availing the benefits of the scheme.”
Few years ago, a complaint was also lodged against an official dealing with the matter of the block development office of Giba circle for allegedly asking money from each beneficiary. Later, the matter was brought to the notice of the deputy commissioner, and subsequently a show-cause notice was served to the official concerned.
