State Govt. lifted 10853 MT food grains under PMGKAY: FCI

ITANAGAR, May 8: The Arunachal Pradesh government has lifted 10,853 MT food grains [rice] under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana [PMGKAY] till May 6, of the total allotment of 12,320 MT for three months.
Under the scheme, five kilograms of food grains are being distributed free of cost for three months to the beneficiaries across the country.
“The total quantity [of rice] lifted by the state government as on six May, 2020 is 10,853 MT valuing Rs 42,32,67000,” Food Corporation of India [FCI] said in a release.
The PMGKY covers 8.21 lakh beneficiaries in Arunachal Pradesh, which is about 59 percent of the total population of the state as per 2011 census.
‘The total allotment of rice under PMGKAY for the state is 12,320 MT for three months, having an economic value of Rs.48,04,80000,’ it said.
Food grains under PMGKAY distributed free of cost
The civil supplies department has distributed 5 kg rice per head to 3,431 Antyodya Anna Yojana [AAY] and 19,854 Priority House Holds [PHH] beneficiaries under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana PMGKAY in West Siang district free of cost during the lockdown period.
A total of 452 free LPG cylinders under PMUY were also distributed.
One-time aid of Rs. 1000 each was also provided to 488 AAY and 3,118 PHH families/beneficiaries during the lockdown period, informed West Siang DF&CSO Rebom Nyguso Lendo.
Around 667 students, who had been stuck outside the state were also provided relief amount of Rs. 3,500 each.
A total of 212 persons have been screened so far in the check gates.
While 395 people are currently under home quarantine, 29 persons have been placed under the notified quarantine facilities. Sample collection for laboratory testing has started on Friday. DIPRO
