KHONSA, May 11: Tirap DC Bhanu Prabha along with administrative, police and health officials visited Charju near here on Monday to inspect the site for the construction of the zonal hospital.
Chief of Bunting village, Sanyak Lowang, agreed to donate land for the hospital’s construction. The plot had earlier been earmarked for the Tirap Degree College, but was later shifted to WRC in Deomali.
Medical Superintendent Dr K Socia said that “Charju is feasible and suitable for establishment of zonal hospital as it falls under the TAH CK main road and near the Charju river, as well as the micro hydel project.”
The DC was informed that an ambulance from the general hospital here would be made available for Charju to address the transportation problems faced by patients requiring immediate medical attention.
The DC expressed appreciation for the village chief, the public leaders and district BJP president Kamrang Tesia for donating land for establishing the health institute.
She later convened a review meeting with the district’s HoDs in connection with the preparedness against Covid-19. SP Kardak Riba, ADC Kretkam Tikhak, and DMO Dr Koblem Mossang also attended it.
Earlier in the day, the DC took stock of the status of the quarantines centres in the district and assured to address the shortage of health equipment very soon. She also visited the Covid-19 control room and wards at the general hospital here, and interacted with the indoor patients, nurses and doctors.
On 8 May, the DC visited the Hukanjuri check gate, and on 9 May she met the people who are housed at the quarantine centres in Kheti. (DIPRO)
