Police still clueless over woman’s mysterious death

RUKSIN, May 11: The police are still clueless over the mysterious death of 26-year-old Jugita Kutum (Pao), whose burnt body was found in the backyard of her residence in Oyan village in East Siang district a week ago.
The police are still hunting for clues to determine whether the death was a suicide or if it is a case of culpable homicide.
The police in Sille-Oyan have arrested the deceased’s husband, Sony Pao, based on an FIR lodged by the woman’s brother. They have questioned a number of people, apart from the husband, to find leads.
“We have interrogated the deceased’s husband as well as a number of people to find clues. We are hopeful that we will be able to unravel the mystery behind the incident soon,” Sille-Oyan PS OC, Sub-Inspector V Lowang, said on Monday.
He refused to disclose the findings for the sake of the investigation.
While the postmortem report of the deceased is still awaited, the police are set to send samples of the her mortal remains, along with other burnt materials, to Guwahati for forensic tests.
