Encourage agri-allied entrepreneurship among youths: Gov

ITANAGAR, May 12: Governor BD Mishra advised Agriculture Minister Tage Taki to encourage youths to “strive for entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied sectors vigorously.”
The governor offered the suggestion when Taki, who also holds the horticulture, animal husbandry & veterinary, dairy development and fisheries portfolios, called on him at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.
Mishra also urged the minister to motivate the field officers linked with the agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, veterinary, dairy development and fisheries sectors “to imbibe out-of-the-box professional approach in their fields of duties.”
Expressing appreciation for the minister and his team for playing a proactive role in ensuring availability of agricultural, horticultural, dairy and fishery produces for the people in different parts of the state during the lockdown period, the governor advised him to explore more ways to directly buy farm produces and sell them in the market, in order to prevent hoarding.
“Create a system for support of growing, tending and marketing big cardamom, so that the farmers’ income can increase,” Mishra said.
Earlier, Taki briefed the governor on the initiatives taken by the state government in the agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, veterinary, dairy development and fisheries sectors. (Raj Bhavan)
