PASIGHAT, May 30: East Siang deputy commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh reviewed the containment plan of covid-19 for the district during a meeting with various stakeholders here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Ninong Ering, Lombo Tayeng and Kaling Moyong, SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, ADCs, health authorities, representatives of NGOs, HoDs and officials of essential services department.
While informing about the containment zone protocols to be followed at community level in rural and municipal areas and risk assessment, the DC said ‘No containment is needed if a person turns positive in quarantine facility however, containment of an area will be required if a person turns positive in the hqrts. or in a locality.’
‘So far, of the 640 samples taken, 486 samples have tested negative while, results of another 154 samples are awaited. Currently, 241 people are in various facility quarantine of the district. The district remains Covid-19 free till now,’ she informed.
The DC also took stock of the action plans by departments in case of activation of containment zone, ensuring proper medical services by the rapid response team, sanitation, disinfection, provision for sufficient portable toilets, 24X7 water supply, essential commodities supply and sealing of the area by police, contact tracing etc.
She also stressed on sustained dissemination of awareness on preventive measures, counselling of vulnerable population and combating fake news and panic.
She further sought the continued support of NGOs and volunteers and their inputs to strengthen strategies and facilities for an effective containment plan in keeping with the needs and challenges of the district.
The DC also took stock of the arrangements made at the respective sub-divisional level by the ADCs of Ruksin, Mebo and Pasighat.
MLA Ninong Ering, in his address called for continued awareness on preventive measures and lauded the efforts of the covid-19 frontline workers. He also stressed on humane approach and extending best possible support and facilities to the students and other returnees.
