SEPPA, May 31: Donyi Polo Cultural and Charitable Trust (DPCCT) chairman Katung Wahge, along with Nyishi Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society (NIFCS) president Pai Dawe inaugurated the office of the Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko school office here in East Kameng district on Sunday.
Wahge also visited the ongoing construction works of the Tribal Cultural and Research Institution here, which is being funded by the indigenous affairs department of the state government.
Later, Wahge, accompanied by a team, including school management committee (SMC) chairman Robin Hissang, visited Rang village and inspected all ongoing construction activities at the school site.
Speaking on the occasion, Wahge appreciated the SMC and members of the public for their efforts in establishing the school.
“This is Nyishi community’s dream project where indigenous knowledge system will be explored and it shall promote the Nyishi language and culture so that the younger generation is benefitted,” he said.
The SMC chairman highlighted the current requirement to start the school, while Dawe suggested exploring for sponsors for the school.
It was decided in the meeting that the school will start its functioning from July 2020. Initially, 30 boys will be enrolled in class I.
Hissang informed that Wahge also donated another plot of land free-of-cost for the school, and three sets of computers with digital printers for the SMC office. Teachers and staff recruitment of the school will be announced shortly through advertisement, he said.
