ITANAGAR, Jun 16: Industries Minister T Bagra on Tuesday said the state government would provide financial support for the mega food park project in Banderdewa.
Addressing a review meeting with stakeholders at the civil secretariat here, the minister said the government would “extend necessary support in financing the project for external infrastructure like road, water, power connectivity, as envisaged in the guidelines of the mega food park,” according to a release from Industries Secretary NT Glow.
Bagra also advised the executing agency, PWD, to expedite the work on the project.
Earlier, mega food park project CEO Likha Maj informed the minister about the progress of work, and made a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the importance of the food park.
“Farmers and producers in the agri- horti sectors will get a ready market, and wastage of produces will be reduced,” he said.
Stating that the food park would play a vital role under the Atmanirbhar Bharat and the ‘Vocal for local’ initiatives, Maj said several letters of intent have been received for setting up food processing industries in the park.
Besides Maj and Glow, Industries Director Habung Donyi, PWD Capital Circle SE T Kamchi, RMFPPL director Likha Chada, and other government officials attended the meeting.
