PASIGHAT, Jul 24: The Pasighat forest division in East Siang district distributed solar lamps and pressure cookers among the flood-affected villagers of Mebo subdivision on Friday.
A team of forest officials headed by DFO (Territorial) Tashi Mize visited flood-affected Namsing village and distributed solar lamps to 70 families of the village.
Pressure cookers, sponsored by the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), were distributed among 230 flood-affected families of Mer, Paglam and Namsing villages.
“This was basically an effort to build a cordial relation between the forest department and the local populace,” said Mize.
He said community participation is must to protect the ecosystem and secure the elephant corridors.
The WTI has donated Rs 1.47 lakh to the East Siang district administration to support the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
