ITANAGAR, 27 Jan: “To bring development and prosperity to the rural areas, road connectivity is vital,” Governor BD Mishra said on Wednesday.
Chairing a high-level meeting with RWD Minister Honchun Ngandam and UD Minister Kamlung Mossang to discuss the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the state, the governor said that “proper healthcare facility, education and economic activities will reach the masses with the availability of roads.”
“The remote circles, villages and areas of our state need to be road connected,” he said, adding that the “PMGSY is the path through which it can be done.”
On the Miao-Vijaynagar road, the governor said it was disappointing that the road hasn’t received proper attention despite a number of meetings having been held over it.
Work on Phase 4 and 5 of the road has made no progress.
“The Miao-Vijaynagar road, in addition to being a boon for the people, has national strategic importance and this cannot be allowed to lag behind,” the governor said. “This kind of delay in such an important road construction, to say the least, is beyond comprehension.”
He advised the ministers to ensure close monitoring of the Miao-Vijaynagar road project to ensure proper deployment of funds and manpower.
Among others, RWD Secretary NT Glow and technical advisor to the state government KC Dhimole were also present at the meeting. (Raj Bhavan)
