NAMPHAI, 24 Feb: Captain Dibanshu Chauhan of the Miao battalion of the Rajput Regiment advocated active participation of youths in sports activities and career orientation programmes.

Capt Chauhan on Wednesday attended the annual ports day of Newman School in Namphai-I in Changlang district with the mission of taking a goodwill message to the civilians under the battalion’s ‘Operation Sadhbhavna’ and civil outreach programme.

He also encouraged the youths to join the Indian armed forces to serve the nation.

Through its civil outreach programmes conducted from time to time, the army has repeatedly been appealing to insurgents active in the TCL region to shun violence and join the national mainstream unconditionally to ensure peaceful coexistence and balanced growth.

The latest outreach programme came within a week of the arrest of an NSCN (R) insurgent from Kharsang area.

The sports day was attended by more than 350 students and teachers.
