TAWANG, 24 Feb: Tawang Deputy Commissioner Sang Phuntsok on Wednesday inaugurated a district level event here to promote entrepreneurs, showcase finished handloom and handicraft products, and provide a market to the local artisans.
“This is a very good initiative to promote local products. We have to encourage our local artisans. We recently started the Sunday market. Though it is in the initial stage, this market will provide a good platform for local farmers and artisans in the days to come,” the DC said.
“Not all will get government jobs. Through skill development and skill upgrading in traditional arts, we can generate good employment and these traditional arts need to be continued and preserved,” he added.
Ten woodcraft artisans 10 weavers were provided with free innovative toolkits and looms.
Besides local artisans, ADTH Chano Lowang and other government officers attended the event. (DIPRO)
