Lowang inaugurates developmental schemes in Mechuka

MECHUKA, 15 Mar: PHED Minister Wangki Lowang on Monday inaugurated the new office building of the public health engineering & water supply division (PHE&WSD) here in Shi-Yomi district, in the presence Legislative Assembly Speaker PD Sona.

The newly inaugurated subdivision office is equipped with separate rooms for the EE, the AE, the JE and all the subordinate staffers, and required modern facilities.

Interacting with the officers and officials of the PHE&WSD, the minister advised them to perform their duties sincerely and work for the public’s welfare. Lowang, Sona and others later planted saplings in the new office premises.

Accompanied by the speaker, the minister also visited various project sites. He inaugurated the water treatment plant in Singbir village and water supply schemes for Thargelling, Kemrong, Bumjipanga, Mechukha, Sokarpu, Dechentang West, Nangso, Manegang and Galling villages.

The minister also visited the Samten Yangchag gompa, the 400-year-old monastery, and offered prayers. When the gompa’s management sought water supply in the monastery’s premises, Lowang assured to look into the matter. He instructed the PHED officers to “look for every possibility for the connection,” and to submit to him the report in this regard as soon as possible.

Later, the minister and the speaker visited Dorjeelling village and interacted with the public there. (Speaker’s PR Cell)
