ZIRO, 16 Mar: “Vaccination is our only protection against Covid-19. No stone should be left unturned to ensure that everyone is vaccinated,” said Lower Subansiri DC Somcha Lowang.
Addressing the fifth district task force for immunization meeting on Covid-19 vaccine and the second DTFI meeting on Intensified Mission Indradhanush here on Tuesday, the DC advocated using the gram sabha platforms for disseminating relevant information.
She stressed the need to include PRI members in such meetings “as their role
in imparting knowledge about the vaccination in the grassroots level will be of utmost importance.”
Due to the variation in the vaccination coverage across various PHCs and CHCs in the district, the DMO was asked to ensure that the respective MOs perform their duties sincerely and meet the set targets.
Expressing dismay over the poor coverage under Covid-19 vaccination, especially in the second phase, among the people aged 45-59 years with comorbidities, Lowang instructed the DIPRO to prepare IECs in local dialects, as well, in consultation with the health department.
“Immunization certificate will be made mandatory not only for admission to schools but also for obtaining birth certificates. The district statistical officer will be instructed to issue an order to this effect,” she added. (DIPRO)
