ITANAGAR, 17 Mar: The Itanagar Urban ICDS Project launched the Poshan Pakhwada (Nutrition Fortnight) at P-Sector Anganwadi Centre here on Wednesday.
During the fortnight-long programme, various activities like poshan panchayats, awareness on Ayush, yoga sessions for mothers and children, distribution of fruit-bearing trees and vegetable seeds for poshan vatika, demonstration on nutritious local recipes and nutrition education will be organized in all the anganwadi centres by involving all the converging departments under Poshan Abhiyaan, PRI members, corporators and ward members of the urban areas, informed CDPO Jaya Taba.
Officer from the Food and Nutrition Board, Natarajan Sekhar spoke on how locally-available vegetables and fruits can be added to our daily diets to maintain good health.
Ward No 11 member Dindo Tasuk exhorted the participants to avail the services provided by the department and take up nutri-garden sincerely. He advised the anganwadi workers and helpers to discharge their duties sincerely. Tasuk assured to help the department in the development of anganwadi infrastructures in his ward.
Poshan pledge, nutrition education and distribution of vegetable seeds were some of the main highlights of the programme. (DIPRO)
