DPC meets for GPDP approval

KHONSA, 24 Mar: A district planning committee meeting in connection with the approval and finalization of the comprehensive Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) 22021-22 was held on Wednesday at the DC’s office here in Tirap district under the chairmanship of DC Taro Mize.

The GPDP has been submitted by all the member secretaries of the gram Panchayat, which was duly approved by 69 concerned Gram Panchayat headquarters of Tirap district and prepared through People’s Plan Campaign (PPC), 2020 ‘Sabki Yojana Sabka Vikas’ after conducting special gram sabha meetings in all the 69 headquarters.

Tirap Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) Chathong Lowang urged all line departments to work dedicatedly while implementing central and state flagship programme in the district and said that “there should not be lackadaisical manner on the part of any technical officers/ official of lines department.”

The ZPC said that all lines department must emphasize on the PPC, which is mandatory for various line departments for GPDP.

She observed the poor participation shown by a few line departments during the GPDP and advised them not to repeat such behaviour in the future as “it affects the society’s development.”

DPDO cum ADC Kretkam Tikhak informed the house that as per a government order of 12 November, 2020, “a comprehensive GPDP 2021-2022 has been received from all the member secretaries of gram panchayats, which were duly approved by 69 gram panchayat headquarters and require final approval of the DPC (PR) Tirap for uploading in Plan Plus.”

The DPDO suggested that the members “scrutinize the proposals nicely and make rectification, if any, before final approval by the house.”

Mize, who is also the DPC (PR) chairman, informed that the purpose of the GPDP was to prepare an evidence-based holistic and inclusive GPDP and requires participatory process covering schemes of all the line departments related to 29 subjects listed in the XI schedule of the constitution.

“Preparation of an inclusive GPDP is a must, but the Panchayati Raj members must impress upon the government for surplus funding against the schemes prepared. Otherwise, the hard labour involved in the preparation of the GPDP will be vain,” the DC said.

District Nodal Officer cum District Facilitator, Makba Nasi presented the scheme proposals submitted by all PTAs concerned in their respective zilla parishad blocks.
