Mishra attends govs’ conference on Covid-19

ITANAGAR, 16 Apr: Governor BD Mishra attended a videoconference of the governors on the Covid-19 situation and vaccination with Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Raj Bhavan here on 14 April.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted the videoconference.

Union Health & Family Welfare Secretary Rajesh Bhushan made a presentation on the Covid-19 situation and the responses from the states and union territories to the pandemic situation.

Naidu asked the governors to collaborate actively with the chief ministers in the fight against Covid-19. He said that the governors should provide guidance to the state governments on crafting a more effective strategy to fight the Corona pandemic.

Modi in his address said that the central government is committed to ensure adequate availability of Covid vaccines for all the states in the country. He said that the governors must spread awareness about AYUSH-related remedies and also spread the message about vaccination and treatment.

The governors of Covid-affected states presented briefs about the Covid situation in their states.

Mishra has held a series of meetings and videoconferences with people from all walks of life, including government officials, political parties, community-based organizations, religious leaders, prominent persons and sportspersons and shared his concern about the increasing Covid-19 positive cases in the state. He invited suggestions from them and also advised them to follow, propagate and appropriately ensure Covid protocols in their area and effectively fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The governor will be interacting with elected representatives and members of the urban bodies and the panchayati raj institution on 17 April virtually to discuss ways and means to contain the pandemic. (Raj Bhavan)
