TCS, TLDC mourn member’s demise

DAPORIJO, 16 Apr: The Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) and the Tagin Language Development Committee (TLDC) have mourned the untimely demise of TCS member Mato Singik Maying, who breathed his last on 11 April.

Born in Maying village in 1978, Singik Maying, as a member of the TLDC was one of the pioneers in developing the Tagin script (using modified Roman script).

“A man of wisdom and knowledge, he was one of the biggest pillars of TLDC. His contribution as a member made the TCS (through TLDC) see through the development of books on pre-primer, primer, Tagin folktales, Tagin alphabet chart, etc, besides conducting many language trainings in different parts of the district,” the two organizations stated in a press release.

“The TLDC always relied and depended on him in its journey to develop Tagin language. The TCS will always fondly remember his contribution with respect and gratitude,” they said.

Terming Maying’s demise an irreparable loss to the Tagin community, the two organizations expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
