ITANAGAR, 19 Apr: The second phase of the refresher programme on ‘Engineering applications of optimization’, sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), got underway at Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic (RGGP) here on Monday.
The programme is being organized by the automobile engineering department of RGGP on the online mode from 19-24 April.
Addressing the inaugural function, ISTE president Dr Pratapsinh Kakasaheb Desai opined that the way of teaching and learning has changed and the change is phenomenal. “Innovation is the key to progress, and educational institutions must focus on inculcating the habit of thinking and innovating amongst the students,” he said.
RGGP Principal Dr Ashok Kumar Tripathy briefed the gathering on the history of the polytechnic college and highlighted its achievements, including accreditation by the NBA.
“The National Education Policy-2020 has paved a way for transformation of education system in the changing environment,” Dr Tripathy said. He opined that the second phase of the refresher programme would benefit the participants to a greater extent.
AUE HoD (in-charge) Dr D Devarasiddappa threw light on the important aspects of the refresher programme. “Advanced topics in the field of engineering and technology, such as additive manufacturing, robotic automation, etc, are also included in the training programme,” he informed.
Sixty-seven participants, comprising faculty members and research scholars from various engineering and diploma institutes across the country are attending the programme. The technical sessions will be conducted by resource persons from the NERIST, the NIT and other reputed engineering colleges.
