Felix urges RD officials to shoulder responsibility

TAWANG, 21 Apr: Home, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Bamang Felix on Wednesday called upon the officials of the RD department to shoulder responsibility for the welfare of the people.

“Let us fix our responsibilities. You as officers have the responsibility to transform rural Arunachal, and my responsibility is to reform the department of RD & Panchayat,” Felix said as he reviewed the  performance of the  RD and Panchayat departments in Tawang district in a meeting at the at DC’s conference hall here.

Felix said that the sole responsibility of a public leader and government servant is to serve the people  “while  some people take their job as duty and some as responsibility.”

 The minister exhorted officials to work together, serve  the society with responsibility, “since our society is still in transition period.”

“Let us work together. Our state has a very small population. We can transform our state and bring changes to the life of the people,” the minister said.

Talking about the performance of the RD  department in Tawang, the minister lauded the departmental officers for their “very good performance  in many perspectives.”

However, the minister said  that there are a few things which require intervention.

He further informed that the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) has been revived  and this institute will now  conduct training for the Panchayat & RD department officers and officials right from the block level.

Tawang Deputy Commissioner Sang Phuntsok, in his speech, said that “Felix is the first minister to go to district level and take review meetings.”

“This is a very good initiative and this step will take developmental activities in the state to  a very good and higher levels in comparison to other states,” the DC said.

Further,  Tawang ZPC Leki Gombu placed his submission before the minister regarding delegation of powers to panchayat members.
