AALO, 3 May: Reports of damages caused by the thunderstorm that had swept through West Siang district on 1 May continue to pour in from various quarters.
The North East Frontier Technical University located in Sipu Puyi has been heavily damaged and the SPT and kutcha structures on the roof of the RCC building are damaged. The hailstorm which had occurred that night led to deposition of mud and debris in front of the university due waterlogging in the compound.
The thunderstorm damaged many resting houses and granaries in the low-lying areas such as Darka village.
The public and farmers of the areas have urged the district administration to depute officers to assess the damages and frame an estimate for onward submission to the government for consideration.
Meanwhile, the power department continues to brace through tough times in restoring the damaged feeder lines in many places. (DIPRO)
