DC seeks cooperation to deal with Covid

TAWANG, 6 May: Tawang DC Sang Phuntsok on Thursday sought cooperation from all to contain the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases in the district.

“We should be prepared for the worst situation; we all have to do awareness campaigns and educate our public on the seriousness of the second wave of Covid,” the DC said during a review meeting with officers of the army and paramilitary forces, panchayat leaders and NGO representatives here.

Lauding the commendable service rendered by NGOs the last time, he sought similar support in contact tracing and maintaining the Covid care centres, if required.

“If the rising cases being detected at the district hospital are due to community spread, we need to seriously review the matter and it is alarming,” he added.

DDMO Tsangpa Tashi informed about the preparedness and identification of Covid care centres at the circle and subdivision levels, and DSO (IDSP) Dr Sangey Thinley presented a brief on the tests being conducted and the difficulties faced by the staff in contact tracing. He also showed the graph of the increasing number of Covid positive cases in the district.

DMO Dr Wangdi Lama and MS Dr N Namshum spoke about the facilities available at the district hospital.

Suggestions from other members present at the meeting were sought, and strict implementation of the SOPs issued by the government was also discussed. (DIPRO)
