ITANAGAR, 21 May: The All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) has urged the state government to issue vehicle permits to the contractors engaged in government projects for lifting construction materials.
In a representation to the chief secretary, the association on Friday said that the ongoing projects are badly affected as the contractors are unable to lift construction materials like cement, rods and gravels due to the sudden announcement of the lockdown.
The association also pleaded with the state government to allow opening of hardware shops in the capital region once a week “for limited time period for uninterrupted supply of construction materials to the project sites.”
It further urged the chief secretary to issue a special instruction to all departments not to float any tender (manual or e-tender) during the lockdown period. However, the association said that “e-tendering may be considered in case of urgent matter.”
