State reports 2 Covid deaths

3% of 18-44 population receive 1st dose

ITANAGAR, 27 May: Arunachal reported two deaths on Thursday, taking the state’s Covid death toll to 109.

The deceased are a 54-year-old female from Tawang and a 54-year-old male from West Kameng district.

The patient from Tawang had reported weakness for five days, besides cough and difficulty in breathing for two days, before testing positive on 25 May, and had been admitted to the Covid health centre on the same day.

The male from West Kameng had reported fever, giddiness, vomiting, cough, headache and hypoxia. He had tested positive on 1 May and had been admitted to a Covid care centre on the same day.

Their vaccine status is nil, as per the health department.

The state also recorded 444 cases of Covid-19 on the day: 114 cases in the Itanagar capital region (ICR), 56 in Tawang and 47 in Changlang. Lohit and Namsai reported 32 and 31 cases, respectively.

On the day, 254 people were declared recovered, as per the daily Covid bulletin. (See bulletin)

Vaccines for those in the age group of 18-44 years were also administered only in the ICR (68) and Kra Daadi (11) on Thursday. Only 3 percent of the total estimated population in said age group has received their first dose of vaccine.

Even as 497 people in the age group of 45 years and above were given their first doses of vaccine across the state, only one person (in Longding) was given their second dose on the day.
