ITANAGAR, 31 May: The health department has identified nine Covid vaccination centres in the Itanagar capital region (ICR) for the intensified vaccination drive to be held in the first week of June.

The centres are the dispensary at the PTC in Banderdewa, the Karsingsa UPHC, the Itafort UPHC, RK Mission Hospital (ground floor, new OPD block), the Chimpu PHC, Tago Memorial Hospital in Nirjuli, and the Borum health & wellness centre.

The Rakap UPHC and Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences centres will hold sessions at the old office building of the art & culture department in Naharlagun.

Those in the 45 years and above category will receive their vaccination

between 9 am and 12 noon, while the 18-44 population will be vaccinated from 2 pm to 4:30 pm, as per the sessions plan.

ICR DC Talo Potom on Monday informed that the ICR has 25,000 doses of Covid vaccine for all eligible beneficiaries in the 18-44 years as well as 45 years and above categories.

Addressing a virtual press conference, Potom said that the district administration and the health department intend on vaccinating as many people as possible during the extended weeklong lockdown, and appealed to all eligible beneficiaries to come forward and get vaccinated as early as possible.

While he reiterated that those in the 18-44 years category will have to register through the CoWIN app, the 45 years and above population can avail walk-in registration. However, it was advised to get registered on the app to avoid crowding.

He also said that those who cannot register online or have been left out can give their names to their respective ward corporators to register and receive vaccination.
