Meeting on Covid status held

BOLENG, 17 Jun: Siang Deputy Commissioner Atul Tayeng chaired a review meeting with health officials on Thursday to discuss the rate of sample testing, vaccination coverage, and the status of infrastructure in the district.

During the meeting, DRCHO Dr Kaling Tamuk highlighted the issue of floating population, “wherein the electoral roll used to derive the estimated population does not accommodate for persons who reside or are employed outside of the district but form part of the district’s electorate.”

The DC called for conducting immediate and thorough village-wise head count to reach a true estimate of the targeted population in all the vaccination age groups.

DMO Dr Rachel Darung and DSO Dr Amar Darung reported on the intensive random tests being carried out in the district. The DC underlined the importance of involving PRI leaders and HGBs/GBs to dispel any misinformation surrounding testing or vaccination.

An augmented vaccination drive was approved with outreach sessions to be led by the incident commanders and those in charge of the Covid vaccination centres, in conjunction with PRI representatives and HGBs/GBs. (DIPRO)
