ITANAGAR, 13 Jul: The All Kamle District Students’ Union (AKDSU) on Tuesday claimed that there was gross violation of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) recruitment rules in Kamle district, saying that 26 persons were illegally appointed to the posts of multitasking staffers (MTS) in the Kamle DC office.
In a representation to the deputy commissioner, the union claimed that it found out through an RTI application (dated 31 July, 2021) that “26 officiating and contractual posts of MTS have been illegally appointed without conducting any interview” between 27 February, 2020 and 10 May, 2021.
The union said that the appointments were made by the district administration “purely on pick and choose, without sending requisition to the APSSB, depriving the rights of educated unemployed youths and humble background genuine candidates.”
It stated that appointments should be made “after proper advertisement, free and fair means and impartial way by having proper interview.”
It is said that the district administration in a written reply to the AKDSU claimed that the state government has not sanctioned any post till date.
The AKDSU said it raised the issue after the vacancies against Kamle district announced by the APSSB were not published.
However, the district administration in a clarification on 3 June claimed that vacancies against the district were not published by the APSSB as there was no sanctioned post in the district.
Terming the appointment of the 26 MTS’ “an act of nepotism and favouritism,” the union demanded cancellation of all the appointments within 14 days, failing which, it said, it would launch a series of democratic movements in the district.
The Kamle DC did not respond to this daily’s queries via WhatsApp regarding the allegation.
