ITANAGAR, 14 Jul: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) sought the chief minister’s intervention in restoring road communication along the Pasighat-Pangin-Aalo highway.
The party said the people of Siang district remain cut off from rest of the state after a portion of the highway was washed away due to heavy rainfall near Rottung in Siang district.
The party suggested the CM to seek the help of defence bridge experts to construct a temporary bailey bridge at the breached point.
Stating that the highway is frequently used by the BRO and the Indian Army, the party urged the CM to explore the possibility of engaging the defense bridge experts to erect a temporary bailey bridge at the block point to enable the movement of light motor vehicles.
“This seems to be the only alternative at sight as the scope of fresh mountain cutting seems almost an uphill task considering the types of rocks and the soil,” PPA general secretary Kaling Jerang wrote to the chief minister.
He urged the senior legislators of Shi-Yomi, West Siang, Upper Siang and Siang districts to team up and take up the matter with the chief minister.
