AALO, 15 Jul: Union Law & Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju took note of the delay in the construction of the highway from Aalo to Pangin despite funding, and sought updates from the officers concerned.
Chairing a meeting of the West Siang DISHA/District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee virtually on Thursday, Rijiju, who is also the chairman of the district level DISHA committee, said he is aware that the delay is causing problems to the public and commuters.
Regarding the collapse of Sanggam bridge, Rijiju directed the department officers to review the progress of all centrally-sponsored schemes. He also mentioned that “funds for the washed-away Ego bridge last year had been managed with the help of agencies.”
Industries Minister Tumke Bagra sought the reasons behind the delay in construction of the Nigmoi-Pangin highway, and suggested initiating action against the contractor.
He also expressed unhappiness over the progress of work for the stadium in Aalo.
Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi, who is also the member secretary of the district DISHA committee, responded to the queries of the union minister on different projects of various departments in the district.
The Yomcha PWD division executive engineer, the Aalo power division EE, the RWD EE, the DMO, the DDSE, the PD and other officers presented briefs on the progress of their departments’ schemes.
Among others, home department advisor Nyamar Karbak, justice & parliamentary affairs advisor Kento Jini, Aalo West ZPC Babom Romin, and HoDs attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
