YUPIA, 15 Oct: Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara inaugurated the Papum Pare District Inter-Club Badminton Tournament, 2021 at the indoor sports stadium here on Thursday.
Players from 10 badminton clubs are participating in various categories, including open men’s doubles, 35+ sub-veteran/veteran men’s doubles, mixed open doubles and boys’ U-13 doubles.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA exhorted the players to make use of the tournament to show their talents, so that they can get opportunities to compete at the highest levels in the days to come.
“Such an initiative goes a long way in exploring the young talents and developing their interest in badminton,” he said.
The tournament’s organizing chairman, Takam Taniang informed that “the main motive of organizing the tournament is to identify the hidden talents and promote badminton in the district.”
The tournament is being organized under the aegis of the Papum Pare District Badminton Association by the Yupia Badminton Club.
Among others, Toru ZPM Taba Rama, ASBA COC secretary Penya Bagra and Papum Pare District Badminton Association president Nabam Tado were present at the inaugural ceremony. (DIPRO)
