ITANAGAR, 17 Nov: The State Remote Sensing Application Centre (SRSAC) here has said it will use high resolution (hi-res) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for various kinds of studies related to remote sensing and GIS.
Science & Technology Secretary Ajay Chagti, who chaired a meeting regarding easy accessibility of cloud-free satellite data for various kinds of studies and analyses here on Tuesday, suggested the officers and the scientists of SRSAC to work out modalities to sign an MoU with the Capella Space, USA for high resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data.
During the meeting, representatives from Capella made a presentation on the capabilities of SAR data for various kinds of studies related to disaster management, defense, route alignment, urban planning, forest studies etc.
“Since availability of cloud-free optical satellite data is limited in Arunachal Pradesh, high resolution SAR data will be the best alternate solution for studies and analyses in the state,” the SRSAC said in a press release.
The meeting was attended by SRSAC Joint Director L Tajo, Deputy Director Neelam That, the senior scientists and assistant scientific officers of the remote sensing centre and members from the authorized Indian partner of the Capella Space, USA.
