DC inspects school, hospital

ZIRO, 7 Dec: Lower Subansiri DC Somcha Lowang conducted surprise inspection of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Middle School and Gyati Takka General Hospital (GTGH) here on Tuesday.

Interacting with the teachers of the school, Lowang requested them to “traverse that extra mile to create an ambience for the children to learn.”

Stating that government teachers are “the most qualified bunch,” the DC said, “A sense of social responsibility and sincerity towards providing the best education to the children has to be incorporated by the teaching fraternity to change the education scenario in the district.”

Taking note of the few broken window panes and the caved-in CGI sheets of the school, the DC requested the teachers to contribute Rs 100 from their salaries to beautify and improve the school building.

“Such small but effective gestures will not only improve the condition of the school building but also motivate the children for the upkeep and beautification of the school campus,” she said.

DDSE Tabia Chobin, who accompanied the DC, said that show cause notices have been served to all non-performing teachers and salaries have been held up in many cases “until the unauthorized leaves are regularized.”

The school’s Headmaster Padi Panyang also spoke.

Earlier, Lowang visited the GTGH, where she took note of the absence of doctors of a few departments in the OPD, and asked DMO Dr Tage Kanno to instruct the doctors to be punctual.

She inspected the wards, the blood bank, the laboratories, the vaccination centre and other facilities of the hospital. (DIPRO)
