ITANAGAR, 15 Dec: Claiming that Boleng is not feasible for the district headquarters, the Siang District Headquarter Settlement Committee (SDHSC) on Wednesday urged the state government to reconsider its cabinet decision declaring Boleng as district headquarters of Siang district.

Addressing a press conference here, SDHSC chairman Tayu Jerang claimed that Boleng has limited area for a district headquarters.

“Boleng should donate and surrender land as per agreement with the government for establishment of the district headquarters. Small areas have been donated. How can district headquarters be established within insufficient area” asked Jerang.

Jerang also claimed that Panging is better and feasible place for a district headquarters. “Advance Landing Ground is at Panging but not in Boleng, we sincerely request the government to reconsider the decision of 8 March 2018,” he said.

In its representation to the Chief Minister, the committee claimed that the high power committee under then Chief Secretary and other related committees involved in Siang district headquarter identification had befooled them with the feasibility report. The committee also claimed that notified areas are not as per the original agreement between the government and the land donors, adding that as per original agreement 6500 hectare of land was supposed to be donated.

The committee further claimed that the controversial district headquarters issue started due to misleading and wrong report submitted by the feasibility report committee under the influence of former minister of the area.

The committee appealed to the government to reconsider its decision of shifting the district headquarters to Boleng.
