ITANAGAR, Dec 17: An unidentified body of a female has been found near PHC Hollongi on Thursday.
The body is still lying unclaimed at RamaKrishna Mission Hospital mortuary, informed Balijan officer in charge T.M Nikam.
According to Balijan police, the body was found in a semi-decomposed state and appeared to be that of a 19-20-year-old female.
The police further informed that as a mandatory procedure, the body will be kept at the mortuary for next 78 hours. The police have sent messages across the state through various police stations about the unclaimed body and alerted nearest police stations in Assam.
Police also informed that a case of unnatural death has been registered.
“The investigation can be launched only after the body is identified,” OC Balijan said.
