Mein exhorts farmers to adopt apiculture on large scale

NAMSAI, 17 Dec: Deputy chief minister Chowna Mein exhorted the farmers to come forward and start bee-keeping on a large scale to make Namsai the highest honey producing district.

Attending the valedictory function of a weeklong training programme on ‘Pilot initiative for honey cluster for beekeepers of Namsai district’ here on Friday, Mein said that prize will be awarded to the largest honey producing SHG.

The DCM assured that he will support the bee-keepers in marketing their produce through the farmer producer companies.

Stating that the state government holds ePragati meeting every month at state level to monitor the implementation of various schemes across the state, he asked the district administrations to conduct such monthly review meeting and monitor the implementation of the central and state sponsored schemes.

Deputy commissioner R.K Sharma and textile & handicraft assistant director J. Rime also spoke on the occasion.

The training was organized jointly by the departments of sericulture, horticulture and the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission and supported by Namsai district administration and National Bee Board.

Ninety-six SHG members from Namsai, Lekang and Chongkham attended it. (DCM’s media cell)
