DA issues guidelines for pilgrims visiting Parshuram Kund, allows 10,000 pilgrims

TEZU, 10 Jan: In view of the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases, the Lohit district administration has enforced a slew of restrictions on pilgrims visiting Parshuram Kund during Makar Sankranti, but has allowed participation of 10,000 persons per day.

As per the guidelines issued by the DC, pilgrims will be allowed to visit the kund from 12 to 16 January, and the number of visitors has been restricted to 10,000 persons a day.

While inner line permits (ILP) will be issued for a period of seven hours (which is extendable in case of medical emergency), there will be no accommodation facility for the pilgrims at the kund site and they will have to return after taking holy dips and offering prayers.

“Only 250 pilgrims will be allowed to stand in the queue at a time for taking holy dip,” it said, adding that “unvaccinated or those who have got only one dose will be allowed only with a negative RT-PCR report not older than 72 hours.”

Entry of beggars and hawkers from outside shall not be allowed, the order said.

“The intending visitors/pilgrims can apply for ILP at the resident commissioners’ offices in Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Jorhat, Guwahati, Kolkata and New Delhi. ILPs will also be issued on arrival at Dirak gate,” it said.(DIPRO)
