Mein, Gao test positive for Covid; DCM advises primary contacts to isolate, get tested

ITANAGAR, 10 Jan: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Member of Parliament Tapir Gao have tested positive for Covid-19.

In a tweet, the DCM on Monday afternoon informed that he got tested for Covid through RAT and was found positive.

“I have got mild symptoms but doing well with no other problem. I request all those who came into contact with me in the last few days to isolate themselves and get their Covid test done,” he wrote.

Earlier, on 8 January, the DCM had informed that he had come into close contact with Transport Secretary Dani Salu, who had tested Covid positive a day earlier.

“I had a meeting with him (Salu) yesterday morning and evening and also on tour with him since 4 January. So, those who had come into contact with him or me since last 5-6 days may please get your Covid test done,” Mein had tweeted.

As a precautionary measure, Mein was in home isolation since 8 January.

Gao, who tested Covid positive through RAT, is currently under quarantine.

A few days ago, Mein had chaired a joint meeting of the Core Committee on Unsung Heroes of Arunachal Pradesh and Rajiv Gandhi University, with Salu, RGU VC Prof Saket Kushwaha and others attending the meeting.

The DCM and the MP had also been on a three-day tour to Taksing in Upper Subansiri district, along with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat Jugal Thakor, a few MLAs and some government officials.
