ITANAGAR, 23 Feb: In a major embarrassment to the Education Department, the Arunachal Pradesh State Board Examination (APSBE) has cancelled the social science examination of class VIII on Wednesday following the report of leakage of the social science question paper on social media.

Director of Elementary Education cum APSBE Chairman, Otem Tayeng issued an emergency notice to all the deputy directors of school education (DDSE) across the state for immediate cancellation of the examination.

The chairman stated, “The information of question paper leakage was received around 12.20 PM today. Hence, the examination of the social science paper of the APSBE 2021-22 dated 23, February, 2022 stands cancelled.”

“Subsequent date of conduct of this paper shall be intimated later. All the DDSEs are directed to intimate the schools immediately,” the notice added.

“We learnt about the question paper leakage through WhatsApp today, so we have to cancel the examination. All DDSEs have been directed to conduct inquiries. Let us see what the inquiry report says,” said Tayeng.

“A subsequent date of examination can be fixed only after the inquiry report comes. It is indeed an unfortunate incident. We can understand the pain of the students appearing for the examination who are being affected,” added Tayeng.

The leakage of the question paper was first reported from a school in Bomdila, West Kameng district.
