Illegal poppy plants destroyed

ROING, 23 Feb: Around 20 acres of poppy plants grown in over 15 isolated fields in Anuboli area of Koronu circle in Lower Dibang Valley district were destroyed by a joint team of officials from the district administration, police and Tax and Excise department on Wednesday as part of a massive operation against illegal opium cultivation.

The operation was headed by Koronu Executive Magistrate Aniyang Ratan and DSP Ringu Ngupok.

A report from CO Aniyang Ratan informed that the cultivators were mainly from the neighboring districts of the state. However, there was no resistance from the illegal cultivators and no untoward incident was reported during the operation. (DIPRO)
