ITANAGAR, 12 Mar: Thirty final year botany students of Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) were taken on a field trip to Gyekar Sinyi on Saturday to educate them about the rich floral wealth of Sinyi, famously known as Ganga Lake.
The students were given firsthand experience in plant identification, collection and preservation.
During the trip, DNGC Botany HoD Dr RK Mishra emphasised on biodiversity conservation and preservation. DNGC’s biotech hub coordinator Amum Tamuk highlighted the importance of understanding the rich natural wealth of the state and their sustainable use for the future generation.
The trip was organised by the DNGC’s botany department and sponsored by the institutional level biotech hub under the special programme for the northeastern states.
